Plants and Life's Philosophy

🌴 What Do Plants Teach Us About Health?

Munira Abdulla woke up from Coma and spoke after 27 years.

Jeanne Calment of France (1875–1997), lived longest(age 122 years and 164 days).

Elaine Esposito lived an unconscious life in COMA for 38 years.

Humans have something called Autonomic Nervous System(ANS) which connects all our organs and enables an equilibrium in the body. That’s why we can live without consciousness for years, but not long enough as we would have with consciousness.

Plants have no central nervous system and are thus brainless. However, just like our ANS, they have sensory cells. When one cell is attacked by a pathogen, the information is transported to all the parts of the plant and the inner defense of the cells gets active to protect themselves.

The Great Basin Bristlecone Pine (Pinus Longaeva) has been deemed the oldest tree in existence, reaching an age of over 5,000 years old.

A banana plant lives for only 6 years. A lemon tree lives for 50 years.

Human genes have 60% similarity with the Corn genes. So, different species are like the different operating systems on top of the same hardware(cells). So, we are like a plant when in COMA.

Because of our similarity, at least at the biological levels, we can learn many things about our health from the plants, that need no animal study.

1) Pinus Longaeva, has lived in the harshest condition, winter, with less sunlight. And thus they grow very slowly, so slow that many years they don’t add a ring to their growth. Hence the tissues are so thick that no external pathogens enter.

So, harsh conditions, and slow growth improve life.

2) Plants crave Sunlight. But if you keep an indoor plant exposed to sunlight for too long, they generate more energy than it can handle. It increases Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS) that leads to plant cells and tissue damage.

ROS is the main reason for human catabolism and inflammation. So, thriving and pushing for more energy leads to our downfall.

3) Plant growth hormones, like humans are secreted in the night. So a plant in natural light, going through day and night cycle grows much bigger than a plant kept in the room with a CFL glowing 24×7.

So, home-overstay causes sleep deficiency, hence growth hormone deficiency and hence less bone strength and hence causes the whole bunch of other conditions like Anemia and low Antibodies (as RBC and WBCs are produced in the bone marrow).

4) Autonomic Nervous System(ANS) of both responds to stressors. The brain helps us to solve problems better than those with limited cognition or consciousness.

But, when the brain perceives safe things as fear, like some news, some opinions, ANS needs to spend more time to resolve, increasing ROS.

Going out, getting exposed to harsh conditions, sleeping well in dark, growing slow, getting thick skin, not over-eating anyone’s energy, and stopping to consider what people say as your life’s threat can give you a long healthy life.
